How to Navigate Overwhelm, Triggers and Fear During Times of Great Change

You may be feeling more easily triggered lately — waves of overwhelm, emotional heaviness, anxiety, irritation, or a sense that something deeper is being stirred within you. You may also notice moments where you feel clear and steady, followed by moments where old fears or reactions suddenly rise again.

How do we navigate through these times?

This is a question many are feeling deeply.

There is a great deal occurring both around us and within us. For many people, this can feel complex, intense, and at times confusing. What we are moving through is not only external change, but an inner process of evolution affecting the physical body, emotional body, and mental realm.

For a very long time, humanity has lived within systems shaped by fear, separation, and divide-and-conquer consciousness. As these old patterns begin dismantling, they can become more visible both in the world and within ourselves.

This is why many people are feeling heightened sensitivity, emotional intensity, and physical symptoms at this time.

The Emotional Pain Body and Trigger Responses

I have spoken before about the emotional pain body being highly activated right now.

This part of us is often connected to feelings of isolation, disconnection, rejection, or not feeling safe. When something external triggers that wound, the body can respond with an alarm state.

You may feel:

  • sudden panic
  • anger rising quickly
  • sadness that feels disproportionate
  • feeling unsafe
  • feeling alone
  • emotional overwhelm
  • physical tension or pressure

Often, the current moment is not the true source. It is simply activating an older imprint stored within the system.

Sometimes we remember the original event. Sometimes we do not.

But the nervous system remembers.

What to Do When You Feel Triggered

When triggers arise, it is important to come back into the present moment.

You may gently say to yourself:

  • I am here now.
  • My feet are touching the ground.
  • This is my body.
  • It is okay for me to feel good.
  • I am safe in this moment.

Then support your system in simple ways:

  • hold a warm cup of tea
  • place your feet on the ground
  • breathe slowly
  • go outside
  • sit with a tree
  • listen to calming music
  • soften the muscles of the body

These simple acts help interrupt the fear loop and bring your body back into safety.

One of the strongest accelerators of pain during these times is judgment.

Judgment disconnects us from presence. It quickly pulls us into hierarchy consciousness — better than, worse than, right, wrong, superior, inferior.

This old pattern has long fed divide-and-conquer energy.

When we judge ourselves or others harshly, we strengthen separation within the system.

When we choose awareness, compassion, and grounded boundaries instead, we begin stepping out of that old pattern.

The Collective Emotional Field

It is also easy right now to be pulled into the collective emotional pain body.

The world stage carries fear, anger, confusion, and polarisation. Many people are being triggered through external events, opinions, media, and uncertainty.

This does not mean something is wrong with you.

It means you are sensitive enough to feel what is moving through the collective field.

The key is to feel with awareness, without drowning in it.

Returning to the Presence of the Present

One of the most powerful teachings at this time is the presence of the present moment.

When something triggers you, pause.

Notice:

  • I feel angry
  • I feel hurt
  • I feel upset
  • I feel vulnerable
  • I feel alone

Stay present with the feeling rather than projecting it outward.

Then bring love into that space.

You may say:

I love you.
You are not alone.
We are here now.
We’ve got this.

This begins to bring light into the disconnected part of the self.

Taking Your Power Back from the External World

Many people are currently giving enormous power to what is happening outside of them.

But your true power returns when you stop letting every external event determine your inner state.

This does not mean ignoring the world.

It means recognising that your centre matters.

Your presence matters.

Your ability to hold light, clarity, steadiness and love in difficult times is part of the great shift we are moving through.

The Sacred Circle and the Age of Aquarius

We are in a time of profound transition.

What I call the Age of Aquarius is a movement away from fear-based hierarchy and toward the sacred circle.

The sacred circle is not about one path being superior to another. It is the remembrance that many paths can lead to truth when rooted in love, unity and presence.

At the centre of that circle is you.

And from that centre, many spokes of connection can open:

  • nature
  • the stars
  • the Earth
  • the inner realms
  • ancient wisdom
  • compassion
  • intuition
  • healing
  • remembrance
You Are Not Going Backwards

If you have felt emotional, reactive, tired, physically uncomfortable, or overwhelmed, it does not mean you are failing.

It often means something old is surfacing to leave.

What you are feeling may be the movement out of density, fear, separation, and survival consciousness.

This can feel intense.

But it is movement.

A Daily Practice for These Times

Even five minutes a day can help.

Sit quietly.

Relax your body.

Breathe.

Place your awareness in your heart.

Feel your feet on the ground.

Say softly:

I am light.
I am love.
I am here now.
I choose peace in this moment.

This builds inner strength.
This builds life force.
This helps you navigate complexity with steadiness.
